Vanavasi is a town in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu and home to many ancient temples. It is also well known for its handloom production of cotton and silk saris.

Along with handloom production, power loom machines are also utilized for the production of synthetic saris, which are widely used throughout Tamil Nadu.

The major occupations of Vanavasi are silk sari weaving and the power loom industry. The handmade saris that are woven in Vanavasi are shipped to various cities in India and around the world. Vanavasi is the most renowned trading center for pure silk and cotton saris in Tamil Nadu.

The Vanavasi cotton sari is characterized by their distinctive color palette, stripe patterns that are often woven into the borders and the small buttas (motifs) that are found across body.

When human hands and heart work in tandem, that is grace in the making. Handwoven cloth has beauty and grace that is significant.
