Isha Rural Health Clinics are aimed at providing quality and affordable health care within rural communities. The implementation model of the IRHC is essentially based on creating one permanent center in the village which looks after the overall health of villagers and provides a space for psychological and community support.
Currently there are 3 Isha Rural Health Clinics in Coimbatore and Salem district. Each IRHC serves 30 to 50 surrounding villages.

How We Do It
The Problem
For people in rural areas, it was difficult to get access to any kind of quality healthcare, other than in the cities. This meant cost of travel and issues of access. Diseases could not be easily identified in time, as there were no proper blood testing facilities and labs available. This resulted in minor diseases and ailments turning into life-threatening issues at times.
IRHCs, equipped with a basic diagnostic lab, a subsidized pharmacy and minor surgery facilities, offer allopathic and alternative medical services at low cost, including emergency medical services. Apart from an in-house doctor, the clinics also have a team of visiting specialists for Gynaecology, ENT and Paediatrics.
Our Solution
The services of IRHCs include:
- Providing communities accessible and affordable healthcare
- Carrying out testing through their lab and pharmacy
- Holding periodic medical camps so that specific issues can be treated
- Providing dental care, including X-ray, tooth extraction, dental filling, root canal treatment, and crown fixing.
- Carrying out health awareness drives on hygiene, communicable and non-communicable diseases, nutritious food, etc.
